Pencil Faber Castell

The idea of enclosing a thin graphite lead in a wooden casing dates back hundreds of years. Baron Lothar von Faber, who in 1839 succeeded the command of the family business founded in 1761, was the first to transform the pencil into an authentic quality product and to make the brand, in terms of writing instruments, a world leader.

This idea took shape with the introduction of the Graf von Faber-Castell brand and my goal is to carry it forward and develop it further.

In addition to extraordinary writing instruments, whose uniqueness lies in the masterly craftsmanship of often extremely rare natural materials, the collection now also includes fine leather goods and desk accessories.

He designed the standards for pencil length, diameter and hardness, standards that still apply today. He also devised a prestigious collection of products that are an example of timeless simplicity and design.

Today the Faber-Castell company, which received its double name from the union of Ottilie, grandson of Lothar von Faber, and Alexander zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, is not only the oldest, but also the most important producer in the world of graphite and colored pencils in wood. In the course of more than 255 years of company history, Faber-Castell has launched a whole series of extraordinary products on the market.
