The production of the barrel requires a considerable effort.
Keeping faith with a special production technique of Pelikan, the raw cotton material undergoes numerous processing steps, until it is transformed into a lined sheet.
At this point it is modeled, sandblasted and cut in the shape of a cylinder with the help of a diamond.
Subsequently, the golden rings are integrated on what will become the barrel of the pen or the cap.
A work carried out with extreme precision, to obtain a structure that does not have any junction point between one material and another.
the writing instrument is then polished and then, as a last step, the clip is mounted, characterized by a slight spring effect and the classic "pelican beak" shape.

History Curiosity
In 1929 Pelikan was the first company in the world to introduce the differentiated piston mechanism.
In 1950 the 400 model was launched.
With its green striped barrel, it has become the worldwide symbol of the Pelikan brand.
In the 1980s the series was dubbed Souverän (Sovereign), despite the German people having given it the nickname Stresemann, as the Weimar Republic Secretary of State was famous for his striped suits.
